Blessed in the Midst of Famine

We are living in perilous times.
Wars and rumors of wars.
Economic uncertainty.
Evil celebrated as good.
Good condemned as evil.
Hearts growing cold.
Truth mocked and scoffed at.

Everywhere we turn, it feels like the very ground beneath us is shaking. The systems people once trusted are crumbling. The safety nets many leaned on are wearing thin. If we’re honest, some days it feels like we’re living in the middle of a famine, not just in the natural, but spiritually, morally, and emotionally too.

But even now, God is faithful.

The God we serve is not limited by the world’s instability. He is not sitting on His throne wringing His hands, wondering how He’s going to provide for His children.
He is still Jehovah-Jireh , our Provider.
He is still El Shaddai,  the All-Sufficient One.
He is still the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Throughout Scripture, we see this truth over and over again: God blesses His people even during famine.

When famine struck the land, God provided for Abraham and Isaac.
When drought ravaged the earth, God sustained Elijah by a brook and sent a widow to feed him with just a handful of flour and a little oil , and it never ran out.
When Egypt and the surrounding nations faced seven years of severe famine, God used Joseph to not only save a nation but to bless His people abundantly.
When the early Church faced persecution, scattering them to the winds, the Gospel exploded and spread like wildfire.

In every season of famine, God remained faithful. And He still is today.

Beloved, do not be afraid.
Do not look at what’s going on around you and let fear choke out your faith.
We are not called to be moved by what we see.  We are called to be moved by what we know.

And what we know is this:
God takes care of His own.

He promises in His Word:

“I have been young, and now am old,
Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken,
Nor his descendants begging bread.”
(Psalm 37:25, NKJV)

Even now, in the middle of inflation, layoffs, instability, wars, and rumors of wars, God is positioning His children to flourish.
He is opening doors no man can shut.
He is releasing supernatural provision that makes no earthly sense.
He is making rivers in the desert and pathways in the wilderness.

This is the time for the Church to shine.
This is the time for us to be living, breathing testimonies of the goodness and faithfulness of our God.

You are not forgotten.
You are not forsaken.
You are not without hope.

You are a child of the Most High God, and He has a track record of blessing His people in the midst of famine, not just after it passes.

Hold fast to His promises.
Refuse to let fear steal your faith.
Keep sowing. Keep trusting. Keep standing.
God is not done blessing His children.

In fact, for those who stay faithful, the best is still ahead.

Stay encouraged,
Stay rooted,
And remember…

FREE looks good on you.

Walk in your freedom, dear ones,

I am a former educator, entrepreneur, wife, and mother of three beautiful children. I have taught the word of God to all ages and love to share it in creative ways. I've always had a passion for written expression. Over the years, I have documented my personal thoughts and prayers. Poems, devotionals, worship songs, and more have come from my life experiences. Now, I am ready to share them with the hope that lives and hearts will be changed as well as greatly blessed. I am flawed but striving for perfection in Christ. Although I have fallen short of the glory of God, I am forgiven. I am loved with an everlasting love. I am FREE!
