From Depression to Joy

Depression doesn’t only enter in through the doors of loss. It also enters in through the doors of unfulfillment. When the things we do, the family we love, the church we serve, the people we associate with do not and cannot fulfill us, a void is created. Such emptiness becomes an open door and creates a place for depression to dwell.

Depression is a spirit. It comes to demoralize our spirit, demobilize our bodies, and terrorize our souls. It causes us to negatively internalize every action and word spoken to us, over us, or about us. Depression disorganizes our thoughts and scrutinizes our gifting. It also patronizes our dreams, demoralizes our faith, and emphasizes our weaknesses.

Depression slowly, steadily, and strategically lures us into a state of fatigue, weariness, stupor, and sleep. We become unaware, unattached, unarmed, unadaptable, unaccountable, and unaffectionate. Also, it leaves us unable to discern, decipher, deliver, or defend ourselves or others.

BUT FEAR NOT!

Our Heavenly Father is releasing His joy upon us and into us. His joy will supernaturally increase our strength. His joy is unspeakable and full of glory. His joy will wake us up and cause every part of us to overflow with hope.

His joy will be made full in us through His word which declares, “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and His glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.”

If depression has dimmed your light, I say to that depression, “Be gone in Jesus name!”

Brothers and sisters in Christ, “Be filled with the joy of the Lord, be strengthened in your inner man. Shine brightly for the Lord before man, that you may be all that the Lord has destined you to be in the mighty name of Jesus the Christ!”
