True Worship

Romans 12: 1-2 MSG

1 So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. 2 Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

What exactly is true worship? True worship is 100% God and 0% you.

Let’s examine three keys to true worship.

Humility

First, must humble ourselves. We must come to a point where we totally submit ourselves to God and let Him take over through the power of the Holy Ghost We must lose our own agendas, thoughts, emotions, and enter into God’s territory in the Spirit. We have to allow Him to move, act, and speak to, through, and for us. There is no room for haughty, prideful spirits. God will not allow these things in His presence. We must be holy, acceptable sacrifices. We can’t submit to the Holy’s leading with things in our lives that are not pleasing to God. We Must Present Our Bodies as Living Sacrifices. We owe it to Him.

Faith

Hebrews 11:6 (Amplified Bible)

6 But without faith, it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out].

We must believe that God is in complete control of our lives and is capable of seeing us through every situation. We must have the faith that He is faithful to complete the work that He has started in our lives. Always consider His track record. Look back over your life to see all He has done. It takes faith to believe that God is worthy of our praise and that He saved us and gave His life for us. It takes faith to know that although things are going on in our lives, bodies, and families, we will continue to choose to worship God.

Obedience

Lastly, we must be obedient. It is our faith in God that leads us to obey Him. God will ask or have us to do things that challenge what we are used to. However, faith makes us do them because His word tells us that all things work out for our good. Although we won’t always understand, agree, or feel like it, we must be willing to say, “God I will go because you told me to go or to do this”. There must be a belief that God will fulfill His promises should He prompt us to instantly, without doubt, obey Him.

Obedience is Our Faith in Action!!!

In closing, we cannot enter into God’s holy presence without humbling ourselves first. Once we humble ourselves, then we must decide to listen to and believe God. Once we hear and believe God, then we are to put what we believe into action through obeying God’s instructions for our lives.

It is a way of life. Do we honor God in our marriages, on your jobs, in how we raise our children, how we treat each other, our service, in our finances, and in everything we do? True worship is a choice. We have to decide to give God all we have. Only then will we experience the full power, glory, and blessings that come with true worship.
