The Freedom of the Father

2 Corinthians 3:17 New International Version (NIV)

17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

I have always been a very forward, quirky, and spontaneous person. I believe in being honest and sharing my heart. I believe that we should be able to be our true, authentic selves without reservation. However, that isn’ t always welcome. We live in a world that says, “Be Yourself…but not that much of yourself.” I have always struggled with that when it comes to relationships. We should never have to be less of who God has created us to be simply to appease others.

This morning, I was praising God for the freedom and blessing of being able to commune with Him. I am so glad that I can talk to Him and not have to worry about how my words will be taken. I am so glad that I don’t have to worry about whether or not He knows what I mean because He truly knows my heart. I am so glad I don’t have to be on pins and needles when I’m in His presence because there is peace and freedom. I am so glad that I don’t have to play politics to fit in with Him or be in His good graces. This is all due to the freedom that comes with being loved by the Father. He knows every single one of His children by name. He knows all about our shortcomings and loves us the same. He even knows the words I don’t say or the feelings I don’t express. Oh, how sweet it is to be loved by Him!

Living a life that causes you to be paranoid and uncomfortable is not a life of freedom. Honestly, I have found this was of life to be quite exhausting. He didn’t send His son to die on the cross so we could be carbon copies of each other. Jesus died on a cross for us to be able to hold our head up each day and walk in the confidence of who He created us to be. We are the designer’s originals. We aren’t knock offs of the real thing. We are the real thing because the real one true God lives within us. Once we grab hold of that truth, our life changes forever. As soon as we do, our purpose aligns and we can live out our destiny.

During this time of isolation, spend as much time as you can with the Father. Get to know His heart and His presence all over again! Fall in love with Him! Cuddle up and rest in His bosom! I promise you won’t leave the same. You see, the freedom of the Father is like no other. It is not restricted by time, space, or the influence of man. It is not based on conditions. Yet, the best thing of all is that it doesn’t cost me anything. Jesus paid it all!

Friends, John 8:36 says, “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”

Praise be to God for His freedom…The Freedom of the Father!

I am an educator, a wife of 24 years, and mother of three beautiful children. I have taught the word of God to all ages and love to share it in creative ways. I've always had a passion for written expression. Over the years, I have documented my personal thoughts and prayers. Poems, devotionals, worship songs, and more have come from my life experiences. Now, I am ready to share them with the hope that lives and hearts will be changed as well as greatly blessed. I am flawed but striving for perfection in Christ. Although I have fallen short of the glory of God, I am forgiven. I am loved with an everlasting love. I am FREE!

  1. This is such a good time to curl up with our Heavenly Father and have a good talk with Him! I know I have to be ready for all He has to tell me: the good, loving, and the you-need-to-change loving. 😊
