A Prayer Against Distractions

Father, we thank you for who you are. We thank you for your loving kindness, wisdom, grace, love, and your peace. We ask that you will forgive us for not keeping our eyes on you. Forgive us for allowing the troubles of this world and minor things to take our focus off of you. Help us to cast down every imagination that may exalt itself above you. May every thought that is unlike you be brought under subjection to your authority and the power of the Holy Spirit. Lord, shift our focus onto the things that are true, honest, just, lovely, and of a good report. Give us the wisdom to see when the enemy comes to deter us from our purpose and how to redirect our hearts and minds back to you. For when our minds are on you, we experience your perfect peace.

Lord, help us abide in you and may you abide in us. So, we can live a life that pleases and glorifies you. Let our ears be inclined to you and you alone, so you can get the glory out of all things concerning us.

In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Be blessed, Nia

I am an educator, a wife of 24 years, and mother of three beautiful children. I have taught the word of God to all ages and love to share it in creative ways. I've always had a passion for written expression. Over the years, I have documented my personal thoughts and prayers. Poems, devotionals, worship songs, and more have come from my life experiences. Now, I am ready to share them with the hope that lives and hearts will be changed as well as greatly blessed. I am flawed but striving for perfection in Christ. Although I have fallen short of the glory of God, I am forgiven. I am loved with an everlasting love. I am FREE!

  1. Thank you. I am blessed.
I plan to share this prayer with my hurting friend. She often takes her eyes off our Lord, and focuses on her issues and what she’d like to have happen. I pray God speaks to her through this prayer, and quiets her heart (Ps 131.2).

    1. You’re welcome.
I hope it helps her. I can totally relate. I’ve been distracted lately by an emotional battle I was having. That’s why I felt led to do the prayer. Hopefully, He will still get heart as well.
