“Do This In Remembrance of Me”

Every time I hear the words “Do this in remembrance of Me,” my mind goes to communion—the bread, the cup, the cross. That sacred moment of reflection that reminds us of Christ’s sacrifice. But lately, God’s been stirring something deeper in my spirit. What if that invitation wasn’t just for the table? What if it was a call to how we live our entire lives?

Luke 22:19 says:

“And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is My body given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.’”

Jesus didn’t just tell them to eat and remember. He told them to live and remember. To serve and remember. To forgive and remember. To build, create, lead, and love, all in remembrance of Him.

This hit me hard, especially in the spaces where I hustle and show up every day: my family, my business, my ministry. Am I doing it in remembrance of me, my goals, my pride, my pressure to perform, or in remembrance of Him?

What would change if we approached every decision, every client, every post, every creation with the mindset: “Lord, I’m doing this because of what You did for me.”
What would shift if we measured success not by followers or profits, but by obedience, surrender, and how closely we reflected the heart of Christ?

Here’s what I’m learning:

  • When I serve my family with love, I’m doing it in remembrance of Him.
  • When I extend grace to a difficult customer, I’m doing it in remembrance of Him.
  • When I choose integrity over shortcuts, I’m doing it in remembrance of Him.
  • When I steward my gifts, run my business, and use my voice to uplift others, I’m doing it in remembrance of Him.

It’s not about being perfect. It’s about being intentional. About letting everything we do, our work, our worship, our witness, point back to the One who gave it all.

So today, I challenge you as I challenge myself:
Before you send the email, design the product, speak to the room, or make the move… pause and whisper, “I’m doing this in remembrance of You.”
Let His love be your motive. Let His Word be your compass. Let His sacrifice be your why.

Because when Jesus is the reason, everything we do becomes an act of worship.

And friend
That kind of remembrance? It changes everything.

I've always had a passion for written expression. Over the years, I have documented my personal thoughts and prayers. Poems, devotionals, worship songs, and more have come from my life experiences. Now, I am ready to share them with the hope that lives and hearts will be changed as well as greatly blessed. I am flawed but striving for perfection in Christ. Although I have fallen short of the glory of God, I am forgiven. I am loved with an everlasting love. I am FREE!

  1. “Intentional” Mindful

If we could be intentional and mindful in everything we do, how different our lives would be! So much more like Jesus, if we kept our focus on Him.

These are good reminders; thank you.
