Part 2: The Assignment Is Purposeful: Are You Managing or Just Maintaining?
It’s one thing to carry something. It’s another thing to manage it.
We’ve been entrusted with purpose; whether in business, ministry, or leadership, and that trust comes with expectation. The parable of the talents in Matthew 25 reminds us that the master gave each servant something “according to their ability.” That means God knows exactly what you’re capable of managing… and multiplying.
But here’s the hard truth: God isn’t impressed by how “busy” we are. He’s moved by obedience. Many of us are doing a lot, but we’re not multiplying anything. We’re maintaining. We’re surviving. We’re holding things together. But are we stewarding them in a way that honors God and builds legacy?
Your business, your audience, your resources, your family…they are not yours to own. They are God’s to use through you. And when we shift from ownership to stewardship, we stop chasing applause and start chasing impact.
In my own journey, I’ve had to learn that excellence is worship. Strategy is stewardship. And even creativity is sacred when it’s submitted to the One who gave it.
So ask yourself today, not just “Am I working?” but “Am I working well?”
Because multiplication doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when we commit to managing what matters.
Ask Yourself:
- Are you treating your business, calling, or family like something that belongs to God? Or something that belongs to you?
- What are you doing today that aligns with multiplying the impact of what God gave you?
- Is there an area of your professional life that you’ve been maintaining instead of managing with intentionality?
Prayer:
Lord, I want to be found faithful. Not just in what’s easy, but in what’s eternal. Help me to steward the vision, the strategy, and the opportunities You’ve placed in front of me. Let my business and my home reflect Your Kingdom. Let my work be rooted in obedience and excellence. Show me how to manage what You’ve given, not just for profit, but for purpose. In Jesus’ name, amen.
