Embracing the Freedom After the Release

There is a point that follows when the drying of the tears ceases.
After the prayers are whispered.
“After the weight finally leaves your chest.”
Release is very powerful. But it is not the finish line.
Freedom is.

So what is freedom actually when we put all that weight on the back of Jesus?
“Because freedom is not fireworks every day. It is sometimes quiet. It is sometimes strange. It is even awkward because we have been so long bound that we have no idea how to move without chains.”
“Freedom starts with the act of breathing.”
You feel it first in your soul. The weight isn’t holding you like it did before. You still remember, but you aren’t living there anymore. The memory is there, but it’s no longer dictating the story. That’s not denial. That’s healing.

“Freedom is not something that happens to you; it’s what you
The things that formerly triggered you no longer have the same power. Not because you have become stronger, but because you’re healed. Jesus did not just take the pain away. He gave you a new perspective.

Freedom means trusting God with open hands.
You release the grip of that which wounded you. You stop practicing the brokenness that broke you. You stop trying to control the outcome to prevent being wounded again. You begin to trust that God can shield your heart better than the walls that once protected it.

Freedom is the kind of obedience that is not done out of
Now that you’re not controlled by the ache, you can finally say “yes” without qualms. Yes to your purpose. Yes to your love. Yes to your call. Yes to your joy. It is trauma that held you back. It is freedom that sets you free.
Freedom is the forgiveness that unrolls.
The kind that tries to convince the world that it never stung. But the kind that pours gall in its soul each day. Forgiveness becomes an act, no longer a moment. The choice between peace and poison.

Freedom is the rediscovery of self in Christ.
Not who pain has shaped you to be.
Not who survival has forced you to become.
But who God always intended.
Whole.
Secure.
Chosen.
Loved.

“And here’s the part that doesn’t get talked about enough:” Freedom is a responsibility.
God sets us free so we can move in freedom, and we shouldn’t wander into those former prisons. We have to protect our minds. We have to draw boundaries. We have to stop idealizing periods of time God has already gotten us out of. Wisdom is the key to freedom.
As Scripture says, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” Galatians 5:1

Standing firm means making different choices. Thinking differently. Loving differently. Living differently.
“So if you’ve released it, don’t feel like you’ve got to fill that space up with noise.” Thus, if you’ve released it, don’t rush to fill that space up or that area of your life with noise. Learn from God how to live unencumbered. Learn from God how to walk unencumbered. Learn from God that liberty is not fragile. Learn from God that liberty
YOU ARE NOT WHO YOU WERE.

You could be
You are not what happened to you.
You are no longer bound.
“You are free. And freedom looks good on you.”

The word “FREE” looks good on you.

I've always had a passion for written expression. Over the years, I have documented my personal thoughts and prayers. Poems, devotionals, worship songs, and more have come from my life experiences. Now, I am ready to share them with the hope that lives and hearts will be changed as well as greatly blessed. I am flawed but striving for perfection in Christ. Although I have fallen short of the glory of God, I am forgiven. I am loved with an everlasting love. I am FREE!
