Release My Seed!

There are certain times of the year when I don’t sleep well. Several months throughout the year, I am awoken out of my sleep with an urgency to pray for both people I know and those I don’t know. I am also woken out of dreams and taken to my knees to go directly into prayer.

Last week, the Lord told me to wake up and walk through my house. He told me to go into each of my children’s rooms and pray for them. He showed me that the enemy was trying to use old strongholds, things that He had delivered us from, on our children. For that reason, I also prayed for my husband. I don’t know about you but something rises up in me when any type of threat is posed against my loved ones. I feel the spirit of the Lord stand up in a way that I cannot explain. I feel the power and authority of God overtake me. I feel as if I am clothed in full battle attire about to engage in mighty spiritual warfare.

Years ago, I arose from my sleep and started to walk through my home praying in the middle of the night. As I was praying, it felt as if something was running from me as I walked in the power of the Lord and prayed in the spirit. Whatever it was had to leave my home! I had no choice! This has happened several times over the years.

Friends, we are at war every day. We see turmoil around us but there is an entirely different level of warfare that is raging against us that we can’t see. Because we cannot see it, we seem to discount the reality that it even exists. However, it is very real. Ephesians 6:12 states, “For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. ” Our adversaries are very real and they are coming full force against us as well as our seed. We have to be vigilant in protecting our children because the enemy is vigilant in his pursuit of them. He will try whatever tricks he can. In fact, he is desperate because he knows the plan God has for them and wants them to forfeit the promises of God in their lives.

Therefore, God has called us to be attentive and active in our role as their spiritual stewards and covering. The truth is although we gave our lives to God, there were still some things that tried to hold on to us and refused to release us. Therefore, more has to be done to set us free in those areas. In Mark 9, we read about Jesus healing the boy of impure spirits. In verse 28, the disciples asked Jesus, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?” Jesus replies in verse 29, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.” In other words, there are kinds of spiritual strongholds that require a greater level of prayer and faith for us to be delivered from them.

Are there any past or present areas of sin in your life that may make your children more susceptible to the attacks of the enemy? Generational curses? Addictions? Bitterness? Unforgiveness? Secrets?

Call it Out! Expose it! Repent! Do whatever you need to do. Then, God has your permission to fight on your behalf. Press in. Pray over for yourself as well as for your children. Speak to those things. They cannot have power over you or your children.

Let us pray:

Father, we thank you for your love. We thank you for these precious children that you have given to us. God, we come to you right now asking that you reveal any sin in our lives or pasts that may try to attach itself to our children. Lord, reveal the plans of the enemy. Lord, raise the standard of your word. Raise it’s power in us as well as over our children when the enemy tries to come against them. We declare to the enemy under the authority and power of the Holy Spirit, “Release my seed!” They shall walk in the purpose you have planned for their lives. They are whole and holy. They are vessels of your glory and will be a light to this generation. They are covered and sealed by the power of the blood of Jesus. You shall be glorified in their lives.

In Jesus’ name. Amen.

I am an educator, a wife of 24 years, and mother of three beautiful children. I have taught the word of God to all ages and love to share it in creative ways. I've always had a passion for written expression. Over the years, I have documented my personal thoughts and prayers. Poems, devotionals, worship songs, and more have come from my life experiences. Now, I am ready to share them with the hope that lives and hearts will be changed as well as greatly blessed. I am flawed but striving for perfection in Christ. Although I have fallen short of the glory of God, I am forgiven. I am loved with an everlasting love. I am FREE!
