While growing up, I didn’t have a positive self-image about myself. I constantly thought negatively about myself and others. This was compounded by the names that kids called me at school. I began to take on those words as if they were my truth. As I got older and became a Christian, I began to understand who God was and what He said about me. Then, my life truly changed.
Words spoken or thought about are very powerful. They will either kill or give life.
Philippians 4:8 says, “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise”. (NLT)
Be careful with the words you believe about yourself.
What do you say when you look in the mirror? What words do you believe about yourself? Is your mind stained from the words of the past? Do you believe the words that were spoken to you or about you from someone you trusted, loved, or even a foe?
Those words, my friend, cannot be your reality. Don’t believe the words of the devil. Don’t think about the negativity someone told you about yourself. Don’t believe the things you think about yourself that are contrary to what God says about you. God has put great gifts, talents, abilities, potential, and greatness inside of you. Think on those things!!!
What Does God Say About You?
You are loved by God.
John 3:16
You are fearfully and wonderfully made.
Psalm 139:14
You are chosen by God.
1 Peter 2:9
You are God’s masterpiece (outstanding work).
Ephesians 2:10
You can do all things through Christ that strengthens you. Philippians 4:13
You are healed by stripes of Jesus. 1 Peter 2:24
You are loved and accepted. Jeremiah 31:3
Think on these things. Rehearse these scriptures in your mind. You become what you think about. Now, go think on those things!!
