Over the past few weeks, I have been enjoying vacationing with my family. I have taken in the beauty that unfolds with changing landscapes and temperatures. I have experienced everything from the bright sunshine of Florida to the mountains of AZ and Vegas. I have viewed them on land and from the air. Either way, I have been able to see many interesting sights. All of which has brought me a great sense of peace, amusement, and joy. Ironically, while I have been able to escape in travel, the world has been screaming chaos. Covid numbers are skyrocketing again, politics are changing, and there has been turmoil overseas. When will it ever end?
Unfortunately, it won’t. We are living and witnessing the signs of time. It’s written in God’s word. Therefore, we have to choose to find our joy in the Lord. We have to be intentional about looking upward to where our help comes from and not in front or around us. Isaiah 41: 10 instructs us, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” We have to hold fast to God’s truths and His promises. We must understand that we are in this world, but we can CHOOSE to find peace in the noise. We can spiritually elevate our hearts and minds to think about the good things, the beauty of this life as Philippians 4:8 says we should.
Don’t get me wrong. It is easier said than done. The struggle to stay positive and maintain our peace of mind is real, especially when all we see is negative. However, we must if we are to remain sober-minded and vigilant like in 1 Peter 5:8 because we have a real enemy whose goal is to take our focus so he can attack. Yet, I declare he is a liar and a defeated foe. We will not fall for his tactics; we will be victorious. We will remain steadfast and immovable. We will allow our God to keep us in His perfect peace because our minds will stay on Him.
Dear friends, let us choose P-E-A-C-E today. Let us tune out the noise and lean into His peace that surpasses all understanding.
