Hebrews 13:16 – “And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”
In the rush of our daily lives, it’s easy to become consumed with our own needs, responsibilities, and struggles. We get caught up in work deadlines, family obligations, and the never-ending to-do lists that seem to demand our attention. But Hebrews 13:16 calls us to something higher—to live a life of generosity, kindness, and love.
“Do not forget to do good.” That’s a direct command, not a suggestion. It’s as if God knows how easy it is for us to get distracted, to turn inward, to focus on what we lack instead of how we can give. But when we take the time to extend a helping hand, offer a kind word, or share what we have with someone in need, we are doing something far more significant than we may realize.
“And to share with others.” Sharing isn’t just about material things—it’s about time, attention, encouragement, and love. It’s taking a moment to listen to someone who is struggling. It’s checking in on a friend who seems distant. It’s sharing our faith with those who need hope. It’s offering what we have, even if it doesn’t feel like much, and trusting that God will use it.
“For with such sacrifices, God is pleased.” Sacrifice isn’t always easy. It often requires giving when we don’t feel like we have anything left to give. It means loving when it’s inconvenient, forgiving when it’s undeserved, and serving when no one is watching. But isn’t that what Jesus did for us? He gave Himself fully, holding nothing back. And when we live in that same spirit of love and generosity, we reflect His heart to the world.
So today, let’s ask ourselves: How can I do good? Who needs my kindness? Where can I share what I have? It may be something small—a note of encouragement, a prayer, a meal, or simply showing up for someone who feels alone. But in God’s kingdom, no act of love is ever wasted.
Let’s live with open hands and open hearts, knowing that every sacrifice of love brings joy to our Father. And in the end, a life poured out in love is a life well-lived.

“Being mindful” – It’s a catchphrase, I know, but it’s becoming more important to me as I age, especially. I need to focus on and THINK about what I’m doing as I do it.
When I’m having my morning devotions, I love how I can just sink into God, know His loving arms are around me, and know that He’s going to be with me all day. It’s a bit harder to be mindful of Him throughout the day. But that’s just what He’s calling us to, so it can’t be impossible. I must think with my mind of Christ. 😊

Hey Kathy. Yes. Years ago, I started to make starting my days with my devotionals. It has made such a big difference in my life. You’re so right about it getting harder through out the day. I can certainly tell the difference if/when I don’t. He is always intentional about us. Praise God.
