You’ve answered the roll call.
You’ve said, “Yes, Lord.”
You have obeyed when obedience meant sacrifice. You have walked away from what He told you to leave. You have started what He called you to build. You have forgiven. You have served. You have waited. You have trusted.
And still… You are waiting on the answer. The door has not opened. The promise has not been realized. The healing has not come. The opportunity has not appeared.
If we are honest, this is where most believers become discouraged. We generally do not struggle with the initial ‘yes.’ We struggle with the silence that often follows it. Secretly, we question: “Did I hear from God correctly? Did I miss something? Shouldn’t something have happened by now?”
But the truth is, we don’t always remind ourselves of the facts: Delayed evidence is not the same as denied obedience. God did not ask you to obey based on outcomes and visible results. He asked you to obey based on His reliability.
Consider Noah. He spent years building the ark before a drop of rain fell. Consider Abraham. He spent decades waiting for the promised son. Consider Joseph. He remained faithful in prison before he stepped into the palace. Their obedience wasn’t proven by immediate outcomes; it was sustained by belief in God’s nature.
Sometimes, God allows the wait because He is doing two things simultaneously: He is preparing the promise, and He is preparing you. The waiting is never without purpose; in fact, every day you keep obeying, you become stronger than your feelings.
So what can you do when you have obeyed and you are still waiting? Keep praying. Keep serving. Keep giving. Keep trusting. Keep becoming. Keep obeying. Not because you are seeing movement, but because you know the One who made the promise.
Faith is not revealed when God answers immediately; it is revealed in your persistence as Heaven seemingly remains silent.
So, today, do not give up because you haven’t received the answer yet. Keep going. The God who called your name will not forget where you are.
Reflection:
Where have you been tempted to give up because you haven’t seen the results you hoped for? Instead of asking, “God, when will You answer?” try asking, “Lord, help me remain faithful until You answer.”
Let Us Pray:
Father, thank You for the assurance that my obedience is never in vain. When weariness sets in as I wait, strengthen my faith and help me trust in Your timing even when I can’t always see Your hand. Keep my heart from becoming discouraged by the current circumstances, and teach me to live faithfully, steadily, and surrenderred, knowing You are always working, even in the silence. Help me keep going.
