Fruit Inspection: What Is Your Life Producing?

Ever walked by a tree with fruit that looked appealing from a distance?

Before taking a bite… Before touching a limb…

Before someone told you what kind of tree it was…

The fruit already did most of the talking.A good apple tree doesn’t need to announce,

“I’m an apple tree! I’m an apple tree!”

The proof is clearly visible. And that got me thinking…

What fruit is my life producing?

Not the fruit of my words. Not the fruit of my good intentions. Not the fruit of my great plans.

Not the fruit of what I believe in. The fruit of my actual life. Because let’s be honest, we can be fantastic at planting seeds, making pronouncements, establishing objectives, preparing vision boards, and speaking boldly about what God has assigned to us.

But sometimes, we need a season of honest fruit inspection.

Not to judge ourselves. But to assess ourselves. What kind of “evidence of obedience” are we bearing in the daily realities of our lives? Jesus Himself stated in Matthew 7:16, “You will know them by their fruits.”

Not their titles.

Not their platform. Not their potential. Not their promises.

But their fruits. This truth should shape our decisions and guide our perspectives in every sector of our lives: our spiritual walk, our family relationships, our professional endeavors, our creative pursuits, our leadership roles, the way we steward resources…everything. Obedience is designed to yield discernible results.

Too often, we’re so focused on yielding the fruit of success, while God is more interested in the fruit of submission.

We demand, “God, when will my business flourish?” But God might be asking, “When will my discipline improve?” We implore, “God, when will You open the next door?” But God might be nudging, “When will my faithfulness expand to the current room?”

We cry, “When will I see significant returns?”

But God might be whispering, “When will I see your roots deepening in ways only I can see?” The reality is that fruit doesn’t appear before the roots have established themselves. The fruit is the evidence of what has been happening below the surface level.

So, let me pose the tough question:Are we more preoccupied with appearing fruitful, or with actually being fruitful?

In the marketplace, what might fruitful looks like?

Consistent presence even when growth is agonizingly slow.

Diligent service even when no applause follows.

Unwavering Integrity even when compromising might be tempting. Meticulous attention to detail in mundane assignments. Continuous learning and refinement, not excuses. In our private lives, fruitful can mean: Patient responses when irritation feels appropriate.

Unflinching forgiveness when resentment would feel natural.

Persistent prayer even when worry grips the heart. Unwavering trust when personal control seems the only option. Persistent obedience even when the manifestation hasn’t materialized.

Here’s something crucial to internalize:

Fruit is a process. No gardener planting a seed on Monday is throwing a tantrum on Tuesday for the lack of harvest. No.

The gardener waters consistently.

The gardener weeds. The gardener persists, confident that what has been sown will mature. Why do we bail on the seeds God has planted for us because we don’t see instant gratification? Obedience remains fruitful even when the results haven’t ripened.

Perhaps your fruit today is not a louder voice, but stronger faith.

Maybe your fruit is not a fatter bank account, but increased wisdom. It might not be public recognition, but inner refinement. Often, God will develop us internally before He increases what surrounds us.

This day, let’s inspect ourselves.

What fruit is my life producing right now?

Does my calendar align with my declarations of faith?

Do my daily habits reflect what I claim God has called me to do?

Does my demeanor exude trust?

Does the quality of my work reflect excellence?

Do my actions in the unseen align with my public prayers? The objective is not flawless perfection, but sustainable growth.

Healthy entities grow.

And when we stay connected to the true Source, our fruits will appear. Keep planting. Keep obeying.

Keep showing up. Your diligence and faithfulness are producing something, even when the harvest hasn’t been brought forth yet. Reflection Question: If anyone were to analyze the fruits of your life today, what evidence would demonstrate you have been walking in obedience?

Let Us Prayer:

Lord, thank You for the wisdom of fruitfulness.

Help me to honestly assess my life today, not to condemn myself, but to align my actions with Your truth. May I be more focused on strengthening my roots before trying to expand my reach. Equip me to treasure the journey of obedience over the destination of outcome, and faithfulness over fleeting accolades. May my life bear unmistakable fruit that magnifies Your Name in all aspects-in my home, my career, my relationships, and in all my assigned purpose.

Amen.
